Dabo & Shobo Alcohol Markers Review

Dabo & Shobo Alcohol Markers for Beginners

When looking for alcohol markers for beginners or alcohol markers for kids, I want to focus on affordability more than anything.

With that in mind, I gave the Dabo & Shobo 24-pack of alcohol markers a test and here is what I found.

The first thing I noticed was the carrying case which was a nice touch but also felt small when comparing to other markers sets I have. Still, it was nice to have a carrying case to keep these markers stored together.

After that I tested out a few coloring pages and noticed the ink was very juicy in these markers. If you purchase these I would recommend you do a few practice runs on pages you don't care as much about first. These laid down a lot of ink which can be good but also something you need to be aware of as you are coloring.

Did they bleed through the page? Of course, as you would expect from any alcohol marker set. These were no different, just make sure you put a backing sheet behind your coloring pages to avoid ruining the next page in your coloring book.

What are the differences in the marker tips? These Dabo & Shobo markers are dual-tip markers with one side being fine tip and the other being a chisel. I found the chisel to be more rigid than some of the other brands I've used but still gets the job done when needing to fill in larger areas.

Do these markers blend well? With a small set of 24 markers there will be fewer blending combinations but there are some that I found and had no issues getting them to blend. If you are hoping to do a lot of blending then I would opt for more than 24 markers in your starter set.

Are the Dabo & Shobo alcohol markers a good set for beginners? For the price point I would have to say yes. If you currently have no markers or only water-based markers but want to take the next step in your coloring journey then by all means, give these a try.

For this price point I am not expecting them to last me more than 6 months but it's too early for me to say that for sure.

They aren't going to make my Best Markers for Coloring list but my final verdict is that I was pleasantly surprised by these Dabo & Shobo markers and would recommend them for coloring beginners or as a set to give to your kids. If your kids are anything like me, they are always trying to get their hands on your Ohuhus. Letting your kids have a nice affordable set like this could alleviate some of that pressure.
